Manawhakahaere

Kaawanatanga
Management takes care of all the daily and weekly business of the organisation necessary to be taken before the Management Board. They might range from minor matters like sorting out daily vehicle bookings mix ups to follow to the review of The Ngai Tahumakakanui Iwi Trust Deed, which consequently is under review as we write. It is being updated by Management and will be finalised by Governance. The board/s may also meet weekly.
All poutokomatua are made up of the most senior of the Boards. They can range from ariki lineage to rangatira and even tohunga. But in most cases they are senior with link also in most cases with all junior. We must get this mix to ensure we can represent all our tribal groups with a close proximity representation. In other words, with representatives that can cover multi descents.

Te Poari Matua: Te Poari Manawhakahaere.
The Ngai Tahumakakanui Iwi Trust has two Boards of Trustees/Directors - one Governance (Te Poari Matua) and the other Management (Poari Manawhakahaere). Another word for governance is 'kaawanatanga.' But the proper Tahumaakakanui way of viewing this concept is merely as - in a 'iwi,' hapu or iwinuitonu perspective as 'management of rangatiratanga, mana and tapu of the consistencies of the tribal entity.' In this case 'supertribal entity.' We have now 30 on both boards - 15 on Governance - and 15 on Management.
