Mahi no tenei Ao

Nga Mahi a Nga Tipuna
Ngai Tahumakakanui practices all the old ways in terms of ways of looking after health. It is always holistic. It is always spiritually concentrated first. And this continues in the aims of keeping the body also robust and strong. Rongoa, spiritual guidance and strength, and the revolving of all that around the entire being as also the major focus of holistic caretakership of the body from throughout the Ngai Tahumakakanui entity.
From Kapahaka to crossfit, from rugby to netball or bodybuilding, Ngai Tahumakakanui (and under the auspices of The Ngai Tahumakakanui Iwi Trust) love to do it all! Hopefully soon we get more representatives from us into some of our renowned teams like the All Blacks, Black Ferns, Silver Ferns, Black Sticks, the Kiwis, the Warriors, New Zealand Maori All Blacks, Touch Blacks and of course all teams of every sport in the country. Can't wait!
Some of the greatest in sport today have actually come from the regions of Ngai Tahumakakanui. Some beknowingly and some not so. Some Sevens and All Blacks players have come from our very own Paapaawai Pa and Hurunuiorangi. Piri Weepu is linked to Ngai Tahumakakanui through the 'Kahungunu.' Colin Meads, Brian Lochore, and Grant Batty all came from our southern rohe.
As people also with lots of our own who have gone to the heights in All Black rugby and Sevens as well as in many other sports like the current coach of our Silver Ferns we are proud of that fact. We take full advantage of their expertise in all aspects pertaining to fitness and health, or aims to make top teams in the country, and even for just merely the sake of keeping healthy, fit and strong.
