Te Kairangahau:  Research/Archives

Kia Ora!  Te Kairangahau is our research and archives team and lab.  We run this from National Office as well as home offices, and with it a training facility for Moai/Maori researchers for the Ngai Tahumakakanui.

Te Kairangahau is managed by Kaea also but employs an archivist, researcher and tutor as well.  Within Te Kairangahau Kaea takes care of the teaching/training aspects mainly.  But we use daily time for training, study, research and project work in the field.  Te Kairangahau also produces kaitiaki i o uta, i o tai trained by Kaea who are used in the field for tending tribal lands.

These trained kaitiaki or, resource management people we seek to employ, and then eventually contract to work with us permanently.  Initially, they would be people from Ngai Tahumakakanui.  But now we take trainees that are interlinked with our supertribal entity or interassociated as well.  Some even come in and assist with our work voluntarily.

Some of them become some of our hardest workers and helpers.  So they end up becoming some of our priorities in terms of personnel we ensure we take really good care of and assure also that they are able to obtain the best we offer.
